- Individual arrival in Tromsø, pick up your separately booked rental car and drive to your overnight hotel. Tromsø is the largest city north of Trondheim with approx. 80,000 inhabitants directly on the Arctic Ocean and the city center consists mainly of charming wooden houses. Traditionally, all expeditions into the eternal ice started from the natural capital of the Arctic. It is therefore worth visiting the Polar Museum, where you can learn about famous polar expeditions and admire curiosities from the polar world, such as a molar from Roald Amundsen. The Tromsø Museum offers a comprehensive exhibition on the history and culture of the Sami people, who have lived in the region for thousands of years. Or you can take the Fjellheisen cable car up the 420-metre-high Storstein mountain, from where you have a wonderful view of the island and the mountains. With a bit of luck, you can watch the mystical Northern Lights from September onwards. One night in Tromsø. Approx. 8 km/approx. 10 min.
