- Individual journey to Dublin. On the drive towards Meath, you can make a stop at the first film location on your route. Mel Gibson fans can visit the ruins of Trim Castle (optional), which was used as the location for the classic film Braveheart©. The castle is the setting for Wallace's famous battle for the city of York. Not far away, Bective Abbey (optional), a former monastery, is also a highlight for movie lovers. Bective Abbey was used as the backdrop for the castle of Edward I of England, Wallace's adversary. Alternatively, you can visit the Boyne Valley, steeped in history, and visit the "Brú na Bóinne" information center and the 5,000+ year old Neolithic burial mounds of Newgrange or Knowth, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites (optional, limited availability). One night in the Meath area. Approx. 100 km/approx. 2 hrs.
