Everest Base Camp Trekking 15 Days

This 15 day Everest Base Camp trek (5364m) will follow in the footsteps of New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal stood before their famous ascent of the world’s tallest mountain - Mt. Everest (8848m). This is your chance to look at what lay ahead for them as they prepared for this mammoth undertaking on 29 May 1953. You will be heading into the UNESCO and World Heritage Sagamartha National Park. You will visit the famous Tengboche Monastery where you can see this massive peak, as well as other 8000m plus peaks like Lhotse (8516m) and Makalu (8463m). You will ascend to Kala Patthar (5550m) which is the closest viewpoint of Mt. Everest and other enormous snow-capped Himalayan peaks. At EBC you can see the Khumbu Glacier as it slowly descends down the face of Everest.

You will trek through gorges, lush forests across mountains in order to reach EBC. There will be plenty of time set aside that will allow you to acclimatize before ascending to higher elevations where there is less oxygen. Passing through a number of villages in the Khumbu region will give you a taste of what the villagers endure daily to survive in the Himalayan mountains, and also how their Tibetan Buddhist faith enriches their lives and creates a sense of tranquility. 

Along the trail you will be surprised at the closeness of these snow capped peaks. The sheer magnitude of these mountains makes you feel small and insignificant as you stare skyward. This is similar to looking up at a skyscraper; except these are natural wonders with four of the tallest mountains in the world in this region.

Your scenic flight into and out of Lukla will highlight the far-reaching range of the Himalayan Mountains. On the return fight you will have a different appreciation and perspective of them, due to having trekked through these mountains and valleys in order to reach EBC. This trek will certainly appeal to nature-lovers and those who have always been in awe of seeing the world’s tallest peak.
