Everest Base Camp Trekking 15 Days

This 15-day adventure will take you to where New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal stood before their renowned ascent of the world’s tallest mountain - Mt. Everest (8848m). You have a great opportunity on this 15-day trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC - 5365m) to follow in their footsteps to where they launched their assault on the mountain. You will trek through the UNESCO and World Heritage-listed Sagamartha National Park and visit the famous Tengboche Monastery from where you can view Mt. Everest and other 8000 meter peaks like Lhotse (8516m) and Makalu (8463m). For an even closer view of Everest, we will head up to Kala Patthar (5643m) in the early pre-dawn. It is the closest viewpoint of Mt. Everest. At EBC you can see the Khumbu Glacier descending down the face of Everest.

The trails that lead to EBC will take you through gorges, lush forests and over mountains. There will be time allocated to acclimatize before ascending to higher elevations. Trekking through the villages in the Khumbu region will give you a taste of what the villagers have to tolerate to survive in the Himalayan Mountains, and also how their Tibetan Buddhist faith enriches their lives. 

On the trail you will be stunned at the nearness of these snow covered peaks. You feel like you can literally reach out and touch them as they tower skyward! Four of the highest mountains in the world are in this region.

A scenic flight into and out of Lukla airport will show the extensive range of the Himalayan Mountains. On your return fight to Kathmandu you will have a new admiration due to you having trekked along trails through these mountains and valleys on your way to EBC.
