ツアー概要
Here is an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of two great explorers, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay who from Everest Base Camp planned their assault on the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest (8848m). There is something very overwhelming about being encircled by the world’s highest peaks. The trail takes you around lakes, over glaciers and through very typical Sherpa villages, home to probably the most accomplished high altitude climbers in the world. Their skills and ability to adjust to high altitudes has made it possible for many expeditions to scale these soaring 8000m plus peaks.
This well known trek in the Sagamartha National Park takes you to Kala Patthar, a well known viewpoint where the views are truly astounding over the vast landscape and of snow-capped peaks that tower above. The flora and fauna, such as Nepal’s national flower – the rhododendron, musk deer and the ever present yak add to the charm of this adventure.
We begin our 12 day trek with a short 30 minute flight to Lukla, where we lace up our boots and head off along the trail to Phakding Village. From here we head to the rallying point for many treks and expeditions, the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, a bustling town with all modern facilities. Leaving Namche Bazaar we head to Tengboche and its famous Buddhist monastery, Dawa Choling Gompa. From the monastery echo the haunting mantras of the monks and nuns that create a tranquil and peaceful mood. Sherpas rarely exclude prayers before heading to the mountains. They believe a prayer will ensure safe passage. The next village is Thukla from where we start trekking to higher elevations. We then come to Lobuche (4,940m /16,210 ft) where we have panoramic views of the Himalayas. Next stop is Everest Base Camp (5364m), the highest point on the trek. This is where you can let your mind wonder how Hillary and Norgay felt as they contemplated their ascent of the highest peak in the world, remembering they did not have technology like today to assist them.
The next stunning aspect of this trek is the massive Khumbu Glacier, rising from (4,900m/16,100ft) at its lowest point to (7,600m/ (24,900ft) at its source high up the mountain. Gorak Shep (5,185m) and Kala Patthar viewpoint are next along the trail. We will make sure we get the best views from Kala Patthar by arriving there very early in the morning when the air is pure and the light is perfect to catch the glory of the sun rising over the mountains. Mt. Everest and the Khumbu Glacier and their pure whiteness are clearly visible from here. Now we head back to Gorak Shep, Pheriche to Namche Bazaar and to where we began our trek at Lukla. Our flight from Lukla will highlight the massive extent of the Himalayas below, even more so now that you have been among and humbled by those superb mountains.
