- Leaving the city behind, we travel via Middleburg and Dullstroom, then take the scenic Robbers Pass to Pilgrims Rest. This small museum town and protected provincial heritage site was declared a gold field in 1873, shortly after digger Alec Wheelbarrow Patterson found gold in Pilgrims Creek. We meander down the main road to immerse ourselves in the towns rich history. Continuing along the Panoramic route, we stop to admire the breathtaking views before heading to our accommodation for the night.
